I know a lot of you don't watch American Idol anymore but some still do. Well let me tell you, this season is hands down the best Idol has been in MANY years. One of the contestants on the show name is James Durbin. He's a rocker to his heart. All the songs he performs involves him jumping around the stage and scream/singing, like a rock star. I have to admit he's very entertaining but after awhile you just want him to go sit down.
Here's the scoop. He made a statement that offended Michael Jackson's family. On Wednesday he performed a rock song, of course. After his performance he told Ryan Seacrest, "I have a lot of hairspray in my hair to keep it from jumping around - so much, the one thing I was worried about was having a Pepsi moment." Now the way he said that was because during his performance there was a piano on stage that was on fire. It was a cool looking special effect though. Now you know the "Pepsi moment" is when Michael Jackson's hair caught on fire in 1984 while he was filming a Pepsi commercial. If you remember, Michael's hair and scalp was severely burned!
A Jackson family rep stated, "We were shocked to see this. It's nothing to make light of and everybody should be focusing on who was responsible for Michael's death." Wow! EVERYBODY SHOULD? Really? Jackson family... Hmmm...
James Durbin did state via twitter that he meant no disrespect to Michael and that he grew up singing Michael Jackson songs.
