Who Dropped The Soap?

The soaps are dropping left and right.  Yeah, soap opera's that is.  ABC has announced that they will cancel 'All My Children' and 'One Life to Live.'  Wow!  Actually I saw these two coming due to the recent drop in soap opera viewings.
ABC says they're evolving it's daytime offerings and because of this, the children and the life to live have got to go!  One of shows will end in September 2011 and the other in January 2012.  So what will take their place?  An hour long food show called "The Chew" which will focus on all food angles.  The Chew will also examine the source of joy, health, family rituals, friendships, breaking news, dating, fitness, weight loss, travel adventures, and life's moments.  Huh? Yeah, my thoughts exactly! All of this for a "food" show?
The other new show that ABC will deliver is entitled, "The Revolution."  This show will focus on health and lifestyle transformations.  The idea of this show is to help viewers live better lives by showing them how to transform their relationships, family, food, style, home design, and finances.  Isn't this what soap opera's taught us?  The hosts of this show will be "Project Runway's" host, Tim Gunn, former American Idol contestant, Kimberly Locke, and celebrity fitness trainer, Harley Pastemak.
Even though I never watched 'All My Children' or 'One Live to Live,' it's kind of sad that they are being dropped for two shows that seem as though they should air on Discovery Health or HG-TV, just saying. Now when 'Young and The Restless' get the boot... Hmmm... That will be REAL drama!
