Village People Band Member Sues Former Band Mates
Former Village People singer Victor Willis (the cop in the group) is going back to court for a lawsuit against his former band mates for $1.5 million in royalties.
He left the group back in 1979, but claims that he is owed a larger piece of the pie for helping to write hits “Y.M.C.A.,” “Macho Man,” and “In the Navy.”
Willis is a professional lawsuit maker it seems. I guess since the Village People are no longer a hit group, he makes his money by lawsuits. In 2009, he settled a legal battle with organizers of a college football half-time concert, which featured a fake Village People. He claimed the group used his image without his permission.
